Do you struggle with fine lines, wrinkles, or other signs of aging that make you feel self-conscious about your appearance? Microneedling with PRP could be the solution you've been searching for! This advanced skin care treatment combines the benefits of microneedling - which stimulates collagen production and promotes natural healing and regeneration - with the power of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which contains growth factors that further promote healing and rejuvenation. The result is smoother, tighter, and more youthful-looking skin, with reduced fine lines and wrinkles, improved texture and tone, and a more radiant complexion overall. With minimal downtime and dramatic results, microneedling with PRP is a popular choice for those seeking to rejuvenate their skin and achieve a more confident, youthful appearance.
When the skin is wounded, blood platelets first go about the task of healing the wound. Once the wound is closed, the body produces new collagen and elastin, along with new skin cells, to repair the skin.
The idea behind microneedling is to trigger this production of collagen and elastin through hundreds of microscopic wounds. These microscopic punctures begin to heal almost immediately, but the body reacts as if wounded, producing new collagen, elastin, and skin cells and sending them to the “wounded” area. This improves skin texture and firmness, and reduces large pores, stretch marks, and acne scarring.
We are proud to offer microneedling at Form Medical Spa, and if you desire we can also include platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with your procedure. We invite you to contact us today to schedule your appointment.
There are no limitations with microneedling. Anyone can have this procedure to improve their skin. The microscopic punctures are only superficial in nature, so they don’t require any recovery. Plus, unlike laser procedures or dermabrasion, microneedling doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation, so it is great for all skin tones and types.
At Form Med Spa, we use the Rejuvapen for our microneedling procedures. It features nine microneedles that move up and down, creating microscopic punctures in the skin to the selected depth (up to 2mm). We move the micropen across the treatment areas creating hundreds of tiny microscopic punctures/wounds. These punctures penetrate the epidermis, the skin’s outer layer, and enter the dermis layer.
The microscopic channels created are surrounded by untouched skin, and the body begins to immediately heal them. In a few hours all of the hundreds of punctures are healed. Still, the body perceives this as a wound and it initiates the production of new collagen, elastin, and skin cells to repair the wounds.
Since collagen is the protein responsible for providing the skin’s underlying structural framework, this firms and makes the skin appear more youthful. Elastin makes the skin more pliable and supple.

After your session, your skin will be red and flushed. It will look as if you have a mild sunburn. The degree of redness will depend on the number of passes made over the treatment area, and the depth of the needle penetration setting. This redness usually is gone the next day. You may have some slight swelling and your skin will feel tight for a day or so. It’s good to schedule your session after work, as the redness will have passed by the next day. You don’t have to restrict your activities in any way after microneedling.
Collagen makes the skin firm, healthy, and vibrant. While collagen is included in dozens of skincare products, it really needs to be produced in the body to be effective. Collagen is produced in the dermis layer.
The reason you need new collagen production is because every year after our 20th birthday, our bodies produce one percentage point less collagen. By the time we hit 50, we’re producing 30 percent less collagen than in our 20s; that’s why our skin sags and loses volume. Plus, this allows the formation of wrinkles and creases.
